Bruce Backstrom joined Hannay Realty Advisors in December of 2011 as Senior Vice President of Hannay’s new Colorado office. Backstrom will be involved in establishing a larger presence for the company in the Colorado market as they continue their expansion across the western United States.

Backstrom comes to Hannay Realty Advisors with over 26 years of top level experience in the commercial asset management and leasing industry. Most recently, Backstrom was the Managing Director of Asset Services for CBRE in Colorado, where he had executive oversight for a staff of over 200 individuals who managed a portfolio of commercial properties in excess of over 26 million square feet. He had been in the position since 2006 when CBRE acquired the Trammel Crow Company, his former employer where he spent seven years as Senior Vice President with overall responsibility for the Colorado Asset Services team. Prior to that, he was Senior Real Estate Manager for CBRE, responsible for a portfolio of over two million square feet of office, industrial and retail properties.

Backstrom’s experience also includes receivership responsibilities for distressed properties. His assignments have consisted of office, retail, industrial and medical office buildings. In the last 24 months, he has been responsible for 15 receiverships.

Bruce has been involved in numerous professional commercial real estate organizations including being a former board member of BOMA/Denver, member of the National Association of Industrial and Office properties (NAIOP) and is a Certified Shopping Manager awarded by the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
